Don Smith

I am proud to acknowledge that I am my ancestors’ wildest dream! But we still have a lot of progress to make.

Don Smith

This Is My Story.

I can’t imagine
living in a world of segregation, but my mother can.

She’s shared with me early memories of drinking from a segregated water fountain as a little girl. It provokes painful feelings about what she and others had to experience and overcome. What strikes me most about those stories is that they happened less than a lifetime ago, a reminder of the systemic and structural discrimination that long denied many the opportunities afforded to others.

At Crowell, our goal is to ensure that everyone—regardless of their background, faith, culture, or identity—has the voice, the resources and the opportunities necessary to succeed.

Working for Everyone

At Crowell, I have the privilege to work every day to ensure that our workplace, our profession and our society no longer harbors vestiges of our discriminatory past, intentionally or unintentionally, directly or indirectly. We work tirelessly to ensure that everyone at Crowell, attorneys and professional staff, enjoy a workplace that values individual authenticity and provides meaningful opportunities for development for all.

We’re Better Together

Yes, we’ve come a long way. I am proud to acknowledge that I am my ancestors’ wildest dream! But we still have a lot of progress to make. While we are not that far from our dark past, I am hopeful that we are closer to a brighter future. I am grateful to work at a place that humbly recognizes they can always improve and do more. Crowell is full of people who value life, value this experience and value this opportunity. We recognize that we are better together, and we must do our part to change the world.
