Our affinity groups and resource networks provide safe spaces, development opportunities, critical support and access to leadership. Through shared culture, open dialogue and community engagement, group members are able to address challenges, identify opportunities, share successes and advocate for each other in the firm’s continued pursuit of promoting progress and equitable policies, practices and procedures.
Women’s Leadership Initiative
Crowell & Moring’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) is dedicated to recruiting, retaining and advancing our women lawyers. Led by counsel and associates and with guidance from partner advisors, WLI provides opportunities for women attorneys to develop meaningful relationships with their peers, mentors and sponsors. WLI also works closely with firm leadership to advance our women lawyers’ issues of concern.

Crowell Rule
Crowell is Mansfield Certified Plus, a designation indicating that at least 30% women and attorneys from diverse backgrounds are proactively considered for, and represented in, leadership roles, partner promotions and more. Our Crowell Rule goes beyond these standards from a recruiting standpoint. Every lateral associate, counsel and partner candidate position must have an interview pool of 30% racial/ethnic and LGBTQ+ diversity and at least a 50% interview pool composed of women and lawyers from diverse backgrounds.
Diversity Pledge
While we meet or exceed the national averages in all diversity categories, we are not satisfied with our representation numbers and strive to do better. As such, we committed to doubling the number of lawyers from diverse backgrounds at each level, increasing the percentage of women and diverse lawyers in leadership positions, and adding 150 women and diverse lawyers to the firm within five years, by 2026.
